I am currently on the road, hitchhiking around the world shooting a documentary, or twelve. I am hoping to inspire those around me through unorthodox, and sometimes extreme methods of living. I have decided that in order to accurately measure and also to enable the best possible footage I will not spend a single dollar on food, shelter, transportation or anything personal for the next full year, and only sustain on what has been generously and spontaneously provided for me.
After witnessing enough negative behaviour in complete strangers to complete strangers to last a lifetime, I have decided to set out to accomplish many things. Prove the world is not such a nasty place full of untrustworthy people, open the minds of society that anything is possible, and that a new friend or opportunity is just a conversation away. When common courtesy seems to have evaded us in 2010, I am setting out in search of the good in the human race. Where have all the good people gone?
I will use my social skills, resourceful thinking and life experiences to accomplish a highly controversial move; travel the globe on less than $500 and breakdown every sterotype and false perception. Its going to be tough sometimes, but I know that what is waiting for me will rock the socks off of everyone reading this. Just wait 'til you see the videos.....

Delayed...

Sooo as the title says, I am currently delayed. Its getting slightly frustrating, as this is the second delay to leave. I am in Ottawa right now, tomorrow being the earliest we can leave, though I highly doubt it'll happen. The land we are purchasing for the hospital site is owned by a man currently incarcerated, and we need to confirm a few details before we can go ahead with the construction. Its just a minor setback, which I think will just make the project that much more beneficial. The anticipation is satisfying to a certain degree. As I wait for 'the call', I have been occupying my time with some video games, photography and the accompanying editing, Christmas movies and take-out. Ah the life of a traveler. Oh and I have been introduced to a new show; 'Band of Brothers'. Its a TV series drama based on a troop of close men who fought together in the second World War, but its really well done. Its one of those shows you can escape into, like most people find themselves doing this bleak time of year. Im really excited at the thought of soccer year round this year, especially with the children. Not to forget enjoying the hot sun and cool nights of the African Great Lakes, but many of my friends in Ottawa are snowboarders with passes and condos and Im pretty jealous of the idea they will spend another winter riding at the mountains, while I sit out. But who am I kidding...right? Aside from dwelling I am also planning whats happening after my Rwandan contract, and Im thinking Costa Rica for a few weeks; I have two traveling buddies who will be there around then. I know my June and July will be in South Africa for the WORLD CUP!! Pretty excited. Im hoping to land a nice gig covering it. We'll see. There will be plenty of posts about that to come... We're having a get together for a close friends birthday tonight, so that should be fun. Its always nice to be back visiting friends, and Ottawa is pretty much what I would call home for now (until I find that new place...) so I am enjoying myself, however I am really looking forward to getting on that tarmac.
In this new found spare time, I have also started to learn French Swahili and Kinyarwanda and start the other blog Ive been waiting too long to get going. It chronicles one of my other passions; hitchhiking. I would really recommend it, as its some stuff seldom seen or talked about these days...

Well thats it for now, the lifestyle of lazy is-a-calling me again, so Im going to go and take care of the couch, I guess she must be lonely or something..
Ill be back.>in militant German accent.<

Later.

FIRST POST!

Hey everybody...well here it is; the inaugural post!

After a busy treeplanting summer in Ontario and BC, Im leaving the comforts of the great north, eh, and heading to somewhere slightly warmer.
Welcome to the blog, this is going to be the outlet to let everyone know whats going on in my world. Im going to keep it updated daily(hopefully) with my events, thoughts, photos and videos. Im going well equipped, so get ready to see some smiles in HD!

In just a few short days, I will be arriving in Kigali, Rwanda for the next 6 months. I have been taken on under contract by a major NGO to work as the Project Manager of a new hospital being built in collaboration with the Rwandan government, as well as several other third party firms funding the project. I will also be shooting a documentary and continuing my photojournalism. Not to forget my driving passion; FOOOOOOTBALL! I will be establishing my own NGO while Im there, playing football(soccer you fool) and teaching English.

While Im waiting for my flight to Kigali, Im actually relaxing at a Blue Mountain in Collingwood, Ontario before I take off. My flight is still unconfirmed, but it looks like 3 days max. Im slightly nervous, but more excited than anything.

Well thats all for now, but keep checking because theres so much to come...
I promise this is going to be your favourite new site.

Cheers
